How to book a Mock Exam

  • Choose Online Tuition from the menu bar and Online Test from the Dropdown menu. Click on this to go to the Mock Exam list:

  • Choose the mock exam you would like to book, register and checkout using PayPal – this also gives you the option to pay using a Credit or Debit Card. Each Mock Exam has to be booked separately.

 

  • You will receive a confirmation of your booking via the email you used to book the exam.

 

  • You will need to invigilate your child during the exam but should not help them so as to keep the result a true reflection of your child’s level at the time of the exam.

Where to Take the Mock Exam

The Mock Exam can be taken at the following location:

Click on the Mock Exam that you have booked. There will be a timer which will count-down to the start of the Exam - the Exam will start at the published time. Please ensure that you are logged on before the published start time, as it cannot be delayed and extra time cannot be added on.

 

Mock Exam Format (Please confirm at the time of Booking) -

Each Mock Exams will consist of 1 Paper from part [a] and 1 Paper

from part [b] below –

[a] Multiple-Choice Maths plus Verbal Reasoning

      OR

Multiple-Choice Maths

[b] Multiple-Choice English

     OR

Standard Format English

Equipment required to take the Mock Exam –

You will need -

  • A Computer or Tablet to take the exam – mobile phones are not suitable for these mock exams
  • Paper and pencil for working out any questions
  • Printer (optional) for printing a Standard Format Paper – alternatively your child can use A4 lined paper, with question numbers clearly displayed, to answer the paper; please make sure that your child’s full name and your email address are at the top of each sheet of paper. You will be given 5 minutes before the exam to enable you to print out the paper (this is for Standard Format Papers ONLY)
  • A scanner or mobile app for scanning Standard Format papers to return to us for marking

  

While a tutorial is running, it is advisable to ensure that no other members of the household are using the internet. This will enable your child to have the maximum possible bandwidth.

Multiple Choice Mock Exams –

All Multiple-Choice exams will be marked automatically upon submission (by pressing the green Submit button at the top right of the screen) and a report provided to parents within the session itself.

You will just get the score and will be able to see the marked paper.

Please note that once the green ‘Submit’ button has been pressed, your answers cannot be changed for any subject.

  • Multiple-Choice Maths OR Multiple-Choice Maths and Verbal – The question paper will be displayed on their screen and each question will have a list of possible answers below it. Your child can do any working out on paper and then choose their answer by clicking on the button next to one of the answers from the list of answers provided.  The child will be able to change their answer if they want to.

Standard Format English

Some Mock Exams will have Standard Format English papers where answers will have to be written down on the Answers Sheet provided.

You will be given 5 minutes before the exam to enable you to print out the paper.

When to send the completed answer paper for marking

 

You will have six hours after the end of the Mock exam to submit the completed English Paper.  Reminders will NOT be sent – the Dropbox folder will not be accessible after the six hours as the File Request will have an expiry time. 

Where to send the completed English paper for marking -

To our DropBox Folder -

You will be sent a new file request for every Mock Exam to upload your child’s completed answer paper to enable us to mark it.

Please make sure you scan the paper and send it as a single PDF document with your CHILD’S NAME and Mock Exam date as the document title. If the document is not scanned as a PDF or does not have your child’s name, we will not be marking it as per school exam rules.

 

You can use the following Apps using a mobile phone to scan the documents if you do not have a scanner – Adobe Scan or CamScanner

 

 

Display of Marked English Standard-Format Papers

 

We will mark the English and provide feedback within 3-4 working days after the Mock Exam. You will be sent a link to view your child’s marked Standard Format English paper. This will be accessible for 24 hours after you first view it.

 

Review/Explanation of Questions

 

  The on-line review session will be a live, interactive session.  It will start half an hour after

   the completion of the exam (or exams).
   We will invite you to the session via email - a link to the website will be   

   provided in that email. You will not be able to enter this session without an

   invitation – please click on the link in the email sent to you. 

 

  The email containing the link will be sent to you half an hour AFTER the start

  of the exam. 
 
  You will need the following equipment:

  • a computer or tablet
  • internet access
  • link for an invitation to the Review Session – this will be emailed to the registered email address half an hour AFTER the start of the exam.
  • download E-lecta Live 8 on your computer or tablet.

Use your login details if you are an existing pupil of greattutors.net. If you are a new user, a user profile and password will be emailed to you – please use these login credentials.

 Please note that the profile and password can only be used on one computer or  tablet at a time. If another computer is used to log into the system with these credentials, the first user will be logged off automatically.


     The Review session can be entered into 10 minutes before it is scheduled to start.
     We will use an electronic whiteboard to write on, which will be visible on your screen.  

     You will also be able to hear us in real-time.

      Please note that this is a review session, NOT a tutorial. 

      We will endeavour to explain as many questions as possible during the session.

      One and a half hours will be used for Maths and Verbal Reasoning and half an hour

      for the English Comprehension.

You will be able to ask questions by requesting to speak - they will do this by simply typing 'Q' into a text box and pressing ENTER. We will enable your microphone so you can ask a question - you will be heard by everyone present in the session. You will also have the ability to control the screen pointer to point to the text or diagrams on the board while speaking – access to this feature is controlled by us.

You can also ask a question by typing it into the Text Box.


We will not be able to see you or access your computers or tablets.
